Assault, Sexual Assault, Death Threats, And Criminal Harassment

Our client and the complainant met on a dating website. The complainant was much older than our client, but they became involved in a serious relationship shortly after meeting.

After a few months, the complainant allegedly began trying to break up with our client. Among other things, she claimed that our client was constantly verbally, physically, and sexually abusive, but that due to her submissive nature and our client’s persistence, she could not break free.

Our client was charged with assault, sexual assault, uttering death threats, and criminal harassment. At the preliminary inquiry, defence counsel cross-examined the complainant for two days.

RESULT: The prosecution withdrew all charges after our client pled guilty to a assault for having twisted the complainant’s baby finger, for which he received a conditional discharge.
