Attempt to destroy evidence

Our client and her partner were hanging out with another couple at a residence in downtown Ottawa. The other couple conspired together to lure the victim to the residence because they thought he had "snitched" on their gang. When this other man arrived, he was attacked by one of the men and they fought each other with knives inside the house. By the end of the altercation, the victim has suffered numerous stab wounds, had bled on the floors of the residence, and required medical attention. A few days later, our client was arrested and she admitted to police that she had cleaned the victim's blood off the floor after the fight.

Our client was charged with attempting to destroy evidence. She accepted responsibility and pleaded guilty.

Result:  Our client was sentenced to twelve-month conditional discharge, meaning that she was not convicted and did not receive a criminal record.
